KNOW: The Arrival of Late Modernism in Dubai
The John Harris 1960 master plan of Dubai marks a turning point in the architectural language and urban design of the city – traditional practices become altered, and at times completely abandoned, and the influence of late modernism starts manifesting itself in the newly constructed buildings, landmarks, parks, and neighbourhoods. This research explores the arrival of late modernism in Dubai through examples of public/private use buildings and urban monuments that shaped the fabric of the emirate.
